Loaded Down & Ft. Worth Bound

I am finally getting around to writing about our amazing time spent in Texas last week. It truly was the trip of a lifetime - we accomplished something off our bucket list while being totally and completely in our element which is was Western & Rodeo World.

For those who are unsure where we went, we traveled 11 hours to Arlington, Texas for the NFR (National Finals Rodeo). The NFR is a championship rodeo event held normally in Las Vegas every year - but due to COVID regulations Texas took it on at the Global Life Field in Arlington. It was quite the show!

(Fun Fact: This is the first time that the stadium has been used for something else other than Baseball.)

Our trip started on Thursday and lasted until Tuesday. It was filled with friends, food, dancing, western fashion, rodeo, shopping, meeting so many amazing new people, and making memories that will last a lifetime. Truly a trip I will never forget.

A lot of people asked about places that we visited and the food that we ate - so I am going to list out a few of our group favorite spots that we got to experience!

Fort Worth - about a 30-minute drive West of Arlington.

Ft. Worth is where we spent a majority of our time (and that is saying a lot since our Airbnb was located in Arlington). This is where the Stockyards are located. THIS is where you want to be.

My favorite thing about the Stockyards is the Cattle Drive that they have daily at 11:30 AM AND 4 PM on East Exchange Avenue.

People line the sides of the street to watch this. It’s quiet, and it’s quick - but it is a must.

The Stockyards have so many cute western shops and stores, as well as older Cafes on the strip. We ate at the cutest Cafe called The Star Cafe. It felt so Old-Time and like Mama’s cookin’ when away from home! (When in Texas, be sure to drink #RanchWater)

Every night we went to some local bars to watch the NFR on TV and to get our Swing Dance on! Favorite bars that I would recommend to all my friends when in Ft. Worth are:

Thirsty Armadillo (Bar & Dancing)

Cantina Cadillac (Bar & Dancing)

P R’s (Bar & Dancing)

Stockyard Saloon (Bar & Pool Tables)

Basement Bar (Bar & Dancing)

Billy Bob’s (Live Country Music & Dancing)

These bars are all located in the same vicinity. At this time, masks are required to be worn unless sitting.

When we were in the Stockyards, we even got to do a quick photoshoot with TPCreationsPhotography. You know I always recommend her if you are looking for someone to photograph you and your precious equine. Shoutout to you Tisha! Can't wait to see those photos!

I could go on and on about how amazing our experience was in Texas and at the NFR - but I think you get the point. (The point being, book your flights and vacation time now.)

If you have any more questions about places to go, stay, or location - feel free to direct message me and I will try to help you in the best way that I can. Already looking forward to our next trip! #FortWorth #ArlingtonTexas #ThingstodoinTexas
